Staying in a Dome in Miches, Dominican Republic (Plus a Little Perk For You)

This Is Not Your Typical Dominican Republic Stay, It's Better.

Domescape Glamping Miches Dominican Republic Dome

As we approached where we’d be staying for the next couple of nights, it honestly looked like we were pulling up to a structure made for Mars — just with a much greener, very habitable twist. Lush rolling hills and farm animals on one side, the sound of ocean waves and a peaceful lake view on the other. Safe to say, this is not your typical Dominican Republic stay.

I’ve lived in the Dominican Republic for 11 years and have traveled the country pretty thoroughly, but this was my first time in El Seibo province — and that alone made the trip exciting. Tourism has been quietly picking up here, especially along the coast near Miches, where a few resorts have already claimed prime beachfront land. We, however, were looking for something different… and we definitely found it.

Before we get into all the details, yes — there is a little perk for Cliff & Cove readers who want to stay here. More on that below.

Where We Stayed: Domescape Glamping in Miches

dome eco stay in Miches dominican republic

Domescape Glamping is a locally owned, eco-friendly dome stay tucked into the countryside of Miches, El Seibo. It’s perfect for solo travelers, couples, friends, and small families who want comfort without the resort experience.

Think: camping vibes, minus the struggle.

Modern conveniences, thoughtful design, and just enough nature to make you slow down — without feeling rustic or roughing it.

Why We Chose Domescape Glamping

If you know Cliff & Cove, you know we’re all about travel beyond the resorts. Miches is one of the last stretches of coastline in the Dominican Republic that still feels untouched, while somehow holding on to its local charm.

Domescape Glamping stood out because it’s one of the very few non-resort places to stay in Miches that still offers a high level of comfort and amenities.

And let’s be honest — I’m all about a good view. Close to the beach? Great. But give me a peaceful, wide-open view and I’m sold. Domescape is perfectly positioned with sweeping countryside views and is just minutes from a beautiful, quiet beach.

There are a few dome communities popping up around the Dominican Republic now, but this one kept catching our eye — so we went to see it for ourselves.

What It’s Really Like Staying in a Dome

I had absolutely no reference point for dome living (as one typically doesn’t). But after two nights? I can confidently say: this is a must-do experience in Miches.

Everything is contactless. The owner, Alfredo, sends you a private link with all check-in details, a digital entry code, and genuinely helpful information — what to do nearby, where to eat, and what to bring. Since no one is there to greet you, you truly have the space to yourself.

Currently, there are two domes on the property (with a larger, third dome coming soon).

The View (Let’s Start There)

The view is surreal. Each dome has a private deck with a picnic table, grill, fire pit, and chairs — and we used all of it. Morning coffee outside, wine in the evenings while dinner cooked on the grill… and at night, the stars absolutely showed off.

You can see the view from inside the dome through the clear structure, but trust me — it just hits different when you’re outside. Domescape has sunset views, so plan to be back before then.

Inside the Dome

Walking inside, we were genuinely shocked by how spacious and well thought-out everything was.

Each dome includes:

  • A mini kitchen with a two-burner stove

  • Mini fridge

  • Full set of kitchen utensils, pots, and plates

  • Basics like oil, salt, pepper, and coffee (rare Airbnb win)

  • A large bottle of water

  • Marshmallows for the fire pit (small detail, big joy)

There’s a dining table with four chairs, two indoor swinging chairs facing the view, a comfortable queen-size bed, and an additional loft bed upstairs — perfect for kids.

Yes, there’s a full bathroom inside the dome with hot water and excellent water pressure. Major win.

It also has AC, and the temperature stayed comfortable throughout our stay (pro tip: close the curtains in the afternoon so the sun doesn’t heat up the space).

For someone who has never camped and isn’t exactly itching to start — this kind of glamping, I can absolutely get behind.

The Local Experience in Miches (Food, Ranch & Excursions)

You might be wondering: If this is out in the middle of nature, what about food?

Alfredo has already thought of that.

He provides recommendations for local restaurants — some even deliver — and partners with Wild District Ranch, just down the road. Guests receive a complimentary breakfast there during their stay.

We enjoyed a classic Dominican breakfast (yes, los tres golpes) at the ranch, which was the perfect start to the day.

For dinner, we stopped at Bravo beforehand (if you know, you know) and grilled steaks and veggies at night — simple and perfect. Followed by hot chocolate and marshmallows as we watched the stars.

Excursions at Wild District Ranch

Wild District Ranch also offers excursions like:

Wild District Ranch Miches
Wild District Ranch | El Limon

  • Horseback riding

  • 4×4 adventures

  • Full-day experiences that include a visit to a typical Dominican home, lunch, a boat ride across Laguna Limón, and time at the beach

Honestly, I don’t think it gets better than that. We'll be sharing more about these excursions and how you can book soon!

Beaches Near Domescape Glamping

At the end of the road is Playa El Limón — a wild, beautiful beach lined with coconut trees. On a clear day, you can see the Samaná Peninsula in the distance.

The waves are fun, the beach feels untouched, and it’s also a popular spot for people who like to camp right on the sand.

Not me — I’ll happily take the dome.

Why Visit Miches, Dominican Republic?

Miches is still incredibly special.

You’re close to Montaña Redonda, a mountaintop viewpoint over 1,000 feet high with 360-degree views (absolutely worth visiting). You’re also near stunning beaches like Playa Esmeralda — more on that soon.

One thing to know: you’ll need a car to truly enjoy this area, and an SUV or a car with a higher clearance is highly recommended due to some bumpy roads. Domescape Glamping is about 3 hours from Santo Domingo and 1.5 hours from Punta Cana. The road to the domes is a dirt, country road and there is a somewhat steep hill after you enter the gate to the property.

This is a place to breathe, rest, and reset. I’d recommend staying at least 2–3 nights to fully enjoy the dome experience and everything Miches has to offer.

Who This Stay Is (and Isn’t) For

We visited Domescape Glamping around our anniversary, and it was the perfect quiet, romantic escape.

This stay is ideal for:

  • Couples

  • Small families (best for 2 adults + 2 kids)

  • Nature lovers

  • Slow travelers

  • Eco-conscious travelers (the domes are 100% solar-powered and use rainwater)

This stay is NOT for you if:

  • You want a luxury resort experience

  • You’re looking for nightlife or a party scene

  • You hate bugs (this is nature, after all)
